Hurling and Irish Identity
Hurling is an Irish sport that has been played for hundreds - and potentially thousands - of years. The sport has been used as a means of connection among families and communities, both in Ireland and among its emigrants in other parts of the world, especially in North America. Legends tell of the sport being used by young warriors to train throughout history, as the sport requires speed, agility, and coordination. Today the sport still thrives with players of all ages and levels. Among the Irish, hurling is a part of their culture and always has been.
